What we install

Here is what is usually going on, and exactly how we fix it.

Grid-tied solar

Panels and a grid-feed inverter that offset your daytime use. The lowest-cost entry to solar, ideal if your biggest load runs while the sun shines.

How we fix it

Designed around your roof orientation and an NRS 097-2-1 approved inverter so it passes SSEG first time.

Hybrid solar + battery

Solar by day, stored battery power through the evening and loadshedding. The setup most Cape Town homes actually want.

How we fix it

A right-sized battery bank and hybrid inverter, with enough panel capacity to charge it through winter.

Inverter & battery backup

No panels yet, just keep the lights and WiFi on through loadshedding. Fully SSEG-registered, since October 2023 even battery-only systems must be.

How we fix it

A tier-1 inverter and lithium battery sized to your essential loads, installed by a DoEL-registered electrician with a CoC.

Off-grid & standby

For homes where the grid is unreliable or you want full independence. Still registered and compliant, even if you never feed power back.

How we fix it

Generation, storage, and a backup generator if needed, engineered for true independence.

Frequently asked questions

How much does solar cost in Cape Town?

An entry inverter-and-battery backup system starts at about R45,000, a standard family hybrid system around R85,000, and a premium near-full-offset system from R160,000. The Western Cape runs roughly 10 percent above the national average. You get a fixed quote after a free site assessment.

What is SSEG registration and do I need it?

SSEG (Small-Scale Embedded Generation) is the City of Cape Town framework for any system that can connect to the grid. Since October 2023 every solar and battery system, including off-grid and battery-only, must be registered and use an NRS 097-2-1 approved inverter. We handle the registration for you.

How long does a solar installation take?

The physical install is usually one to three days. SSEG registration and municipal sign-off add another two to six weeks, which we manage in parallel so your system is legal and insurable from day one.

Are your installers accredited?

Yes. We coordinate SESSA-registered and SAPVIA installers holding the PV Green Card, with electrical sign-off by a DoEL-registered electrician and a valid Certificate of Compliance on every job.

What are the Eskom SSEG fee waivers?

Until 30 September 2026, the City of Cape Town and Eskom waive the SSEG registration and connection fees and include a free AMI smart-meter upgrade worth up to R10,000. Registering before the deadline also unlocks the Cash for Power programme, which pays actual cash for excess generation once your bill is offset.
